My father's last poems: in his own words

I made new friends in my recent trip to South Africa, and since they are all Israelis, I felt regret that I could not share with them my father's last poems in Hebrew.I discovered these poems when during the Shivaa (the traditional mourning period after his passing.) Six years later, I published a selection of his work in the original language. For some obscure technical reasons between the publisher and Amazon, I had to remove the book from publication.Until now.For a very exclusive group of people among you--Hebrew readers who like poetry, especially if it's poetry that makes grown men cry--I have a unique surprise:My father last poems can now be read in the original language. The Kindle b...

Say What You Mean

Hey Everyone!! :-)As many of you probably know, there's an ongoing debate about healthcare in this country. The system we have now doesn't work but it replaced a system that worked even worse than the current one. There are lots of ideas floating around about how to make things better, but they basically boil down to two sides. One side, the Republicans, want a free-for-all where only the rich are able to afford health coverage and people who have serious illnesses or chronic conditions would simply be denied access to healthcare. The other side, Bernie Sanders and his supporters, advocates for a Medicare For All type system where everyone would be covered under a government insurance plan, ...

How dare you deny what happened between us?

“This is the man I loved.”She had just confessed her love to me—in the past tense. So, what had happened between us was now over and done with! Poof! If not for the bun in the oven, there was no warmth left.I told myself, stop! Don’t take it so personally, or you’ll go mad. After all, here she was, pretending to be a French maiden who had allowed herself to be seduced. Of course, the whole affair was invented out of thin air. It concocted some other fellow—a good-for-nothing low-life, who was far different from the real me. Should I play along? Stepping into his shoes, should I go where this contrived tale might take me? Surely I should stop feeling sorry for myself—or truly, for myself as hi...

Why I Write

Why I Write When I was a girl, I discovered a slender, mother-of-pearl fountain pen among my grandmother’s treasured belonging in an enormous cedar chest. “That was my mother’s writing instrument,” she told me, her voice ringing with reverence. This curious nineteenth-century artifact intrigued me—imagine, the writer had to dip it in real ink. Wide-eyed,…The post Why I Write appeared first on Jan Moran. You're reading Why I Write, originally posted on Jan Moran - Books to enrich your life. and copyrighted by Jan Moran.Chat with Jan on Facebook | Original link

Interview with Author Ava Lynn Wood

I am excited to welcome award winning children's book author Ava Lynn Wood to Passion Between the Pages! Ava and I discovered each other on Facebook and our mutual love of suspense and romance made us fast fans of each other's stories. Ava writes under two pseudonyms - Ava Wood, her young adult pen name and Ava Lynn Wood which she uses for her Adult Contemporary novels.     I'll be sharing my review of Ava's In A Dream today, along with an interview with the author herself.     Welcome, Ava!1. When did you know you wanted to be a writer? What aspect of writing do you enjoy the most? When I was about eight years old, I loved writing poetry, albeit quite juvenile, but I’ve always had a great lo...

Unique Spy Thriller

Thrilled to find this new review for my WWII Spy Thriller, Marriage before Death:5.0 out of 5 starsUnique Spy ThrillerByKookykaton October 15, 2017Format: Kindle Edition|Verified PurchaseThis is the first book in this series I have read, it is a stand alone book. Lennie and Natasha are reminiscing about their World War II days. Natasha is trying to write her memories from that time, with little success. This books is a love story, a mystery, a war story altied together. Very fast paced, sit on the edge of your chair book. Uvi Poznansky has a unique way of telling the story. I will get the first books and read them now. Highly recommend this book.Original link

Being locked here I have managed to squash these memories

She leans back, sinking deeper and deeper into the frayed cushion, not doing much of anything except breathing heavily. Naturally, it annoys me. Hell, it sucks the air out of my lungs. The danger of oxygen deprivation does not occur to me at first. But if there is one thing I have come to hate more than her breathing heavily, it is me, having to hold my breath. So many months have passed since I smelled fresh air. Come to think of it, it must have been years since I crossed the threshold, since I stepped outside, into the sunlight, which—as I remember—is so warm, so gloriously magnificent. Yes, it must have been decades since I sunk my paws into the moist ground outside, or lifted my eyes to...

Another well crafted story in the series

Just found this lovely review by Piaras for my WWII Spy Thriller, Marriage before death:5.0 out of 5 starsAnother well crafted story in the seriesByPiarason October 3, 2017Format: Kindle Edition|Verified PurchaseWhatever flaws we might identify or frustrations we might feel are trivial in comparison to a reader's pure joy in losing himself/herself in a narrative. When all the elements come together: an intriguing plot, thoughtful, profound themes, complex, troubling, characters, and language that make us shudder for its honesty, clarity, and confidence; we gratefully set all analysis aside and give ourselves up to the sheer magic of a great book. And for me, Marriage before Death: WWII Spy T...

‘Vernon Hall’ Chapter One

The coffin was empty. Where was her body?I was petrified. My head was dizzy and my body sluggish from the horrors of the night; yet I compelled myself to stand up. My vision was blurred and my senses benumbed. I shielded myself from the penetrating rays of daylight which streamed in through the stained-glass windows. I again looked into the glass window of the coffin to ensure I was not concocting a nightmare. But I was not. It was actually empty.I let out a cry, but then I realised it was pointless. Who would come to my rescue? Indeed there was no one in that house but her and me. Even if I had died at that very moment, no one would have known for days. It took me a while to regain my sense...
