Review of Rae of Hope book 1 in The chronicles of Kerrigan.

Currently FREE ON AMAZONReviewThis young-adult book, the first in the series was a great read. The author's ability to keep your attention right through the book was definitely accomplished. he kept the tension just perfectly to keep you intrigued. The book is fast paced and written very well. The characters were interesting and believable. Rae, the main character, had quite a few obstacles overcome while adapting to a new school. I thought the budding relationship between her and Devon was very sweet and have the promise of something wonderful down the line. The villain was clever and concealed his evil side very well. Never had you an idea that this man was the person behind all her troubles...

My Biographical Romance FOR THE LOVE OF HAWTHORNE is .99 for Kindle This Week

We all read Hawthorne's stories and books THE SCARLET LETTER and THE HOUSE OF THE SEVEN GABLES in school, but did you learn what made the handsome brooding genius tick, and what haunted him? Here's a snippet from FOR THE LOVE OF HAWTHORNE:(Yes, he actually did say Thoreau was 'ugly as sin' - maybe after too much Port, maybe not!)I joined myself to him heart and spirit, but he still remained enclosed in his shell. It softened, yet I couldn’t hasten its shattering. He turned down invites from our friends—rather, my friends—Margaret Fuller, my revered Ralph Waldo, Elizabeth Hoar who’d filled the Manse with those fragrant bouquets, so I invited them to the Manse instead. When my friends Anna Chas...

What’s in a name? – The Desert Rats

We have all heard of the ‘Desert Rats’, but how much do we really know about them? We all link them to World War 2, but the Army units which evolved into the ‘Rats’ actually began as small armoured car forces in the Western Desert of Egypt during the First World War before going on to face the threat of Mussolini’s expanding African Empire. Rolls Royce Armoured Car Bardia 1940 After the Munich Crisis of 1938 the British decided to strengthen their forces in North Africa to protect the Suez Canal if war should break out again. The result was the establishment at Mersa Matruh (on the Egyptian coast 20 miles west of Alexandria) of a Mobile Force of Armoured and Tank Regiments, together with Art...

My New Biographical Romance FOR THE LOVE OF HAWTHORNE--A Psychological Thriller With a Touch of Paranormal

One of history's greatest love stories was that of Nathaniel and Sophia Hawthorne. They called themselves "Adam and Eve" and "loved surpassingly" as Sophia recorded in her journal. When her sister Lizzie wanted her to come down and meet him, she wasn't a bit interested. Here's a snippet from that night:53 Charter Street, Salem, Massachusetts, 1837Monday eve under a blur of stars, warm for mid-November “O, Sophie!” My sister pounded on my bedroom door. My head throbbed with every strike of her fist. “Pull on a frock and come downstairs! Now!”I squeezed my eyes shut. “Please, Lizzie, I have one of my headaches. Leave me be.”Heedless of my request or of the fierce pain tearing my brain, she shoved...

From the book: Blood Mines by Lynelle Clark... Excerpt 4

Wiping the sweat away from her brow, Tanya peered straight into the scorching heat. Her face was covered by the wide-brimmed hat, her eyes protected by dark sunglasses ─ the heavy duty kind that hardly allows any light to pass through. It was early November with no sign of rain in the sky. The previous day they had a few drops which splattered onto the dust-covered earth, but it had made no significant difference to the parched earth. They needed a downpour soaking the earth, and soon. Death was around her in various forms, and it didn’t discriminate between the strong and the weak. It was as if the Grim Reaper had a license to kill and touched everything with robustness. Fires were a consta...

Excerpt 3 from Blood Mines by Lynelle Clark

#3 Excerpt Blood Mines“Here, let her drink this,” Granddad said, also close by. His gruff voice unmistakably from years of chain-smoking cigarettes.“Dad, that’s brandy. I cannot give a ten-year-old brandy.” Mom uttered, aggravated by Granddad’s suggestion.“Oh, hogwash, nothing can happen to her, she needs to get warm immediately, and brandy is the best source of heat right now.”With that, a glass was held in front of Tanya’s shivering lips and tepid liquid ran down her throat. She coughed from the sudden burn but gulped it down. Not that she knew what brandy was but at that moment it warmed her body, which was all she cared about, soothing the burning cough at the same time. She shook uncontr...

The second Excerpt from Blood Mines by Lynelle Clark

#2 Excerpt from Blood MinesThen, unexpectedly, vice-like arms clamped around her body and her head broke through the surface of the water so quickly that it shocked her system like a jolt of electricity directly to her heart. She sputtered and coughed all at once before she opened her eyes in slits. As if in a haze, she saw a most welcome face. Uncle Jack looked at her with his big, scary eyes, his face pale as he gazed at her. Drenched himself, he held her in his arms and she wrapped her arms around his thick neck, crying hysterically while he patted her back, all the while trying to calm her down. It felt like she was on fire. Everything burnt. She coughed a few times, trying to focus on a...

Greater Love Has No Man Than This – Noel Chavasse

Following on from my previous article about the Royal Army Medical Corps I wanted to pay tribute to one of the heroes from the Corps who dedicated his life to helping those who had been wounded in battle, Captain Noel Godfrey Chavasse. Noel Chavasse VC Chavasse was born in Oxford on 9th November 1884, 20 minutes after his twin brother Christopher. The family moved to Liverpool when their father, Rev. Francis Chavasse, was made Bishop of Liverpool. Both boys did well at school where they excelled at sports, before going to Trinity College, Oxford. After graduating with a First-class honours degree Noel continued to study medicine at Oxford, and during that time both he and Christopher represe...

BOOTLEG BROADWAY, a Story of Debauchery and Romance. Prohibition, booze, music, sex, murder… New York…what a time to be alive!

The birth of BOOTLEG BROADWAY:After FROM HERE TO 14THSTREET set in 1894, I needed to set this a generation later, which happened to be the 1930s—with Prohibition and the Great Depression as the backdrop. This is the first book I ever wrote where I created the characters first, with nothing to do yet. The plot developed the way it did because of who they are. My goal was to get the protagonist Billy McGlory into one mess after another. This era couldn’t have been more suited to Billy’s adventures, a few of which he barely escaped with his life. About BOOTLEG BROADWAY: In this sequel to FROM HERE TO 14TH STREET, Vita and Tom McGlory and their three children are struggling to make ends meet.It'...
